Solidarity message to social organisations and trade unions from Hungary
No to the privatisation of healthcare!
We express our solidarity with the hungarian social forces that united against the planned privatisation of the financing of health care, by selling 49% of the current state system, and giving it into the management of competing, profit-oriented insurance companies.
Profit-driven healthcare leads to the growth of differences between healthcare provided for the rich and the poor. This kind of discrimination is just as unacceptable, as is discrimination based on beliefs, gender, nationality, race, religious beliefs, or sexual orientation. Adequate healthcare is a human right, not a priviledge!
The failure of this reform is not only in the interest of the hungarian society– but it is in the interest of all those who are struggling for a world where people come before profit. The failure of this reform-plan, is in the interest of all those who are struggling in similar battles for a real democracy that surpasses a merely formal democracy, where governing against the majorities will is perversely considered brave.
We therefore fully support the non-violent fight of peoples of Hungary mobilizing against this perilous reform.
